Columbus Crew SC concluded its second trade in a few hours on Thursday as the club announced that left back Waylon Francis is leaving the club to join the Seattle Sounders. The Black & Gold will receive $50,000 in General Allocation Money from the MLS Cup runners-up in the deal.
Crew SC had declined Francis’ contract option two weeks ago, but was still negotiating a new deal with the Costa Rican international according to head coach and sporting director Gregg Berhalter.
“We want to thank Waylon for his service to the club during the last four seasons,” Berhalter said in a club statement.
