Recap #3: Special Teams Doom Jackets in Season Opener

Fresh off a high scoring and undisciplined evening in Minnesota, the Blue Jackets took to the ice at home for the first time this season to face a worthy foe in the New Jersey Devils. Jake Christiansen drew in for an injured Gudbranson and Jet Greaves got the crease.

First Period

The top line continued to buzz early with Marchenko getting a clean look on Allen to start the contest. The CBJ got an early 4 minute power play after a nasty high stick bloodied Miles Wood’s visage. A good opening sequence to the man advantage but the PK of the devils flexed their quality and frustrated repeated zone entries and killed off the double minor.
