A few weeks ago, it appeared to be iron-clad that the New York Rangers would be unchallenged in the Metropolitan Division’s second position. Such is the case no longer.
The Rangers have hit a bit of a lull late in the regular season, in the midst of losing six of their last 10 games and now in third position behind the red-hot Pittsburgh Penguins. The Penguins had a three-point lead on the Rangers entering Sunday’s schedule of games, having won nine of 10 clinching a playoff spot for the 10th season in a row.
Meanwhile, the Rangers still have some work to do.
