The Columbus Blue Jackets are still 10 days away from the start of the regular season. On Sunday, they trimmed their training camp roster by 13 players, leaving them nearly compliant for the regular season.
Getting these cuts done early is part of the plan put forth by head coach Dean Evason and general manager Don Waddell. Doing so allows them to get into their regular season practice habits a little bit early.
There weren't any real surprises in the latest round of cuts. In fact, there haven't really been any big surprises at all, aside from goaltender Ivan Fedotov being sent through waivers on Friday.
