Devocio Butler to transfer from Colorado State basketball team

FORT COLLINS — Senior guard Devocio Butler has been granted his release to transfer from the Colorado State men's basketball program.

Butler averaged 5.9 points and 2.4 rebounds in 17 games off the bench last season for CSU before becoming one of three Rams to be ruled academically ineligible for the second semester.

The Atlanta native scored in double figures in six of the team's first 10 games in 2016-17, including a 19-point effort against Northern Colorado.

According to a source, Butler's decision to leave CSU was for non-basketball reasons.

Per a statement from CSU, the junior college product is leaving Colorado State in good academic standing after failing to meet minimum GPA requirements last season.
