Colorado State center Jake Bennett received national recognition Tuesday as the senior was named to the Rimington Trophy 2017 fall watch list, an annual award presented to the top center in college football.
Bennett was a second-team All-Mountain West offensive lineman after the 2016 season as voted on by the league's media and coaches, starting in 13 games for the Rams.
A native of Lakewood, the 6-foot-3, 290-pound senior was a key figure in the middle of CSU's offensive line, which surrendered just 1.0 sacks per game in 2016, eighth-best in the NCAA last season. The Rams ranked 12th in passing efficiency, 31st in rushing , 28th in scoring and 30th in total offense among Division I programs.
