CSU football wins wild ride at San Jose State

SAN JOSE, Calif. — A bye week led to the best half of football for Colorado State on Saturday night.

Then it led to the absolute worst quarter the program has played in quite some time, a tough accomplishment in a season that has been amiss from the start.

A 28-0 lead at halftime became a 30-28 deficit heading into the fourth quarter.

Really.

When the nuclear waste from the implosion disappeared, Colorado State regained some command, scoring a pair of touchdowns in less than two minutes to open the fourth quarter. After Izzy Matthews pounded in from the 1 to give the Rams back the lead, true freshman corner Rashad Ajayi cooled the Spartans' roll even more with a 55-yard interception return for a touchdown on his first career pick, the final points in a 42-30 victory.
