Colorado State's young linebackers step into the action

FORT COLLINS — One had to expect a drop in production.

A defense just doesn't lose its top two tacklers, a duo which manned the middle of the Colorado State unit for three years, and not expect things to remain the same. Aaron Davis and Max Morgan were not just the Rams' leading tacklers last year, but two of the best in program history, so it wasn't just the talent, but the experience.

The one person who wasn't overly concerned was linebackers coach Marty English, because he had seen what was coming up through the system. Junior Kevin Davis was the most battle-tested of the group, having played as a true freshman and serving as Morgan's key backup last year, but Deonte Clyburn and Kiel Robinson saw action, too.
