Colorado State football set to name Derrick Ansley defensive coordinator

Colorado State football coach Mike Bobo is set to hire Alabama defensive backs coach Derrick Ansley as his defensive coordinator, a move first reported by FootballScoop.com.

Ansley finished his second season with the Crimson Tide coaching against Georgia in the National Championship game. His secondary, led by consensus All-American Minkah Fitzpatrick, ranked second in the nation in pass efficiency defense this season, limiting opponents to a 54.1 percent completion percentage while allowing just seven touchdowns against 17 interceptions.

Two of those touchdown passes were delivered by Colorado State's offense.

Ansley, who played at Troy, has spent most of his coaching career in the SEC.
