50th Bronze Boot Run kicks off CSU-Wyoming 'Border War'

Nearly 100 Colorado State University Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps cadets woke up at the crack of dawn Friday to participate in what might be termed the first battle of the weekend's 107th annual "Border War."

The annual Bronze Boot Run, named for the trophy awarded to the winning team in the CSU versus University of Wyoming football game, is a school tradition in its 50th year. It took place under the lights of the new on-campus stadium in Fort Collins on Nov. 3.

Starting at 6 a.m., members of the Ram Battalion ran the game ball relay-style from Sonny Lubick Field at the CSU Stadium to the Colorado-Wyoming border — a hilly, 42-mile journey — to hand it off to members of the Wyoming Army ROTC cadre.
