Two of the newest Rockies prospects combine for 15 strikeouts in a well pitched day for the affiliates
Yency Almonte was near perfect for the Modesto Nuts on Sunday, striking out eight and only surrendering three hits and one run over eight innings. Unfortunately for Almonte and Modesto, the Nuts offense was nonexistent all afternoon, scattering seven hits over 12 innings and dropping the game to San Jose, 2-1. The Nuts fell to 23-39.
Almonte was acquired this past winter in a deal for reliever Tommy Kahnle and thus far has proven to be far more than organizational filler.
