The Colorado Rockies haven't had a great go of it lately. Ever since they swept the New York Mets in mid-May, they've dropped 12 of their next 17 games, including losing a very uninspiring home four-game series against the lowly Cincinnati Reds.
They're 24-30 entering Saturday night's game, and they need Chad Bettis—who's been scuffling a bit this season—to get right and salvage whatever they can of the week. They're fighting each other in the dugout. Overall, save a few good pitching performances, they've been pretty lifeless.
And then there are the San Diego Padres.
