Betsy Jacobsen will be running the New Jersey Marathon this weekend, checking off her 50th state with a marathon to her credit. Her husband, Andy Reid, is planning to do the 5K there. She’s thinking his challenge may be nearly as taxing as hers, though.
Reid, a retiree who works part-time as a ticket taker at Coors Field because he loves being around baseball, has Stage 4 melanoma cancer and completed a round of radiation last Friday. Already dealing with depleted energy, he also is grieving the death of his mother, who passed away this week in Ohio.
