LOS ANGELES — The Rockies’ 4-3 loss to the Dodgers on Tuesday night was an exceptionally painful one, and not only because Trayce Thompson beat them with a walk-off homer in the ninth.
The Rockies struck out a season-high 15 times, their most since Dodgers pitchers fanned 18 Rockies over 16 innings last September at Dodger Stadium. Four of Colorado’s strikeouts Tuesday came with runners in scoring position. Slugger Carlos Gonzalez whiffed four times and three of his strikeouts came with runners in scoring position.
However, manager Walt Weiss is not overly concerned by the Rockies’ Ks.
