SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Fenway Park’s famed Green Monster is going to need a new paint job once Trevor Story gets finished with it.
“Man, he’s going to mess that thing up. Seriously,” Rockies third baseman Ryan McMahon predicted Sunday after word came down earlier in the day that Story and the Boston Red Sox had agreed to a six-year, $140 million contract.
Story, a right-handed pull hitter, has elite power. His 158 career home runs are the second-most by a shortstop within their first six seasons in major league history, trailing only Cubs Hall of Famer Ernie Banks (183).
