Trevor Story and Dom Nunez homers lift Rockies over Padres in series sweep

Home runs from Dom Nunez and Trevor Story powered the Rockies to a 7-5 home victory on Wednesday against the Padres.

Colorado starter Chi Chi Gonzalez, in his first appearance off the COVID-19 injured list, was pulled after just three innings when the right-hander allowed three earned runs on four hits. But the Rockies overcame his rough start with a flurry of offense — 11 hits among six players — and a solid bullpen performance.

Colorado (55-66) is off on Thursday prior to hosting a three-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Rockies are 41-21 at Coors Field this season — the second-best home winning percentage in the majors.
