The Morning After: Rockies’ Charlie Blackmon loves home runs — and baseball history

CHICAGO — Charlie Blackmon got a short history lesson after the Rockies’ 3-1 victory over the Cubs are Wrigley Field Tuesday night.

He was informed that:

a) When he and David Dahl opened the game with back-to-back homers, it marked just the third in Rockies history that a game has opened with consecutive homers. Eric Young and Ellis Burks did it against the Marlins at Coors on May 4, 1996, and Blackmon and Corey Dickerson pulled it off on May 10, 2014, against the Reds at Great American Ball Park

b) According to the Elias Sports Bureau, it was the first time that a visiting team hit back-to-back home runs to lead off a game at Wrigley Field since Aug.
