Shohei Ohtani drives Angels to win over road-woeful Rockies

When the Rockies hit the road, their margin for error is razor-thin. When they face a talented pitcher like Angels’ superstar Shohei Ohtani, it’s less the zero.

No surprise, then, that the Rockies lost, 6-2, at Angel Stadium Monday night, despite another — mostly — solid start from right-hander German Marquez.

Ohtani was as good as his hype, allowing just five hits, striking out five and walking none over seven innings. His only major mistake was giving up a solo home run to catcher Dom Nunez in the fifth. Ohtani exacted a bit of revenge in the seventh, striking out Nunez with a 100 mph fastball on his 99th, and final pitch of the night.
