Rockies’ Tyler Anderson facing long recovery from knee surgery

Rockies left-hander Tyler Anderson, who underwent major surgery on his left knee in June, still faces a long road to recovery.

Manager Bud Black said Wednesday that Anderson would not be 100 percent ready for spring training. Anderson is just now beginning to put weight on his left knee.

“His return would be somewhere within the early portion of (next) season,” Black said. “Somewhere, hopefully, within the first couple of months.”

Anderson, 29, underwent surgery on June 11. The surgery was done to correct a chondral defect in Anderson’s left knee. A chondral defect refers to an area of damage to the cartilage that lines the end of the bones in the knee.
