LOS ANGELES — For a sleepy Sunday morning in Southern California, there sure was plenty happening with the Rockies before their afternoon game against the Dodgers:
— With third baseman Nolan Arenado still slowed by a bruised left big toe, right fielder Charlie Blackmon needing a day off his feet, and center fielder Ian Desmond dealing with a nagging injury that the club did not disclose, the Rockies were in need of position help. So they recalled infielder Garrett Hampson from Triple-A Albuquerque.
Manager Bud Black said Arenado and Desmond’s injuries do not require a trip to the injured list, but said he wanted to get them a day out of the starting lineup.
