Tyler Anderson had surgery on his left knee Tuesday in Chicago, the first major step in the long road of recovery for the Rockies’ southpaw.

Manager Bud Black said the club will know more Wednesday about how the procedure went. Anderson, 29, was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on May 4 after floundering with a 11.76 ERA in his first five starts of 2019. He went on the injured list a few weeks later after not making any starts for the Isotopes.

The surgery is intended to correct the chondral defect in Anderson’s left knee.
