Rockies sign Trevor Story to two-year contract

The Colorado Rockies have agreed to a two-year, $27.5 million dollar deal with Trevor Story, according to Jeff Passan of ESPN. This buys out the final two years of arbitration for the All-Star shortstop.

The Rockies and Story were $750K apart in negotiations for a 2020 contract, with Story filing at $11.5 million and the Rockies offering $10.75 million. MLB Trade Rumors projected Story for an $11.5 million deal, exactly as he filed. Instead, Story will receive an average annual value of $13.75 million and a guarantee that an arbitration hearing won’t be necessary not only for this year but for the 2021 campaign as well.
