Rockies sign Chris Owings, two others to minor-league deals

The Rockies have signed three players to minor-league deals, including utility infielder Chris Owings, a source confirmed Friday.

In addition to Owings, the Rockies re-signed reliever Wes Parsons and added outfielder Zach Borenstein.

Owings, 28, signed last year with Kansas City and finished the year with Boston. He was released by Arizona after the 2018 season. Over the past two seasons, Owings’ slash line is a weak .180/.248/.275 over 505 MLB plate appearances.

However, he did perform well at Triple-A Pawtucket last season, batting .325 with 11 home runs in 44 games. If he makes the Rockies’ roster out of spring training he will be due $1.
