Rockies’ Scott Oberg and David Dahl confident in their safety despite compromised immune systems

As Major League Baseball attempts to formulate a safe and workable plan to return in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, two key Rockies players understand that they are at a higher risk than their teammates. But they also say they’re confident they can remain healthy should baseball resume.

Reliever Scott Oberg, Colorado’s possible closer, lives with three autoimmune diseases, and all-star outfielder David Dahl doesn’t have a spleen. But both are eager for the season to resume.

“Yes, I’m at a higher risk, but I trust that the MLB and the medical personnel involved won’t put us at an even greater risk to go out and play,” said Dahl, who had his spleen removed in an emergency operation in 2015 after he was injured in a collision during a Double-A game.
