Rockies’ Ryan McMahon signs six-year, $70 million contract extension

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — The Rockies’ Ryan McMahon, who emerged as one of the baseball’s best defensive third baseman last season, has agreed to a six-year, $70 million contract extension with the club.

An MLB source confirmed the agreement, which was first reported by ESPN.

The deal takes care of the last two years of McMahon’s arbitration eligibility and gives him four more years with Colorado, through the 2027 season.

McMahon, 27, slashed .254/.331/.449 with 23 home runs last season. He hit eight home runs in April but then his power production waned as the season went on.
