Rockies’ RBI machines Mark Reynolds and Charlie Blackmon take full advantage of windy Wrigley Field

CHICAGO — The wind was blowing out at Wrigley Field on Saturday afternoon, meaning that the bar-hoppers and cab drivers on Waveland and Sheffield avenues had to be on alert.

Two Rockies sluggers took full advantage of the home run-favorable conditions in Colorado’s 9-1 victory.

In the fourth inning, Mark Reynolds hit a 447-foot solo shot beyond left field and onto Waveland. Charlie Blackmon slugged a 439-foot solo homer over the right-field bleachers and onto Sheffield in the seventh.

“This is the first time I’ve ever played here with the wind blowing out,” said Reynolds, who said it was the second time he hit a ball to the street.
