Nolan Arenado will be at Nationals Stadium Monday night when the sluggers start slugging during the annual home run derby, the big event prior to Tuesday night’s 89th All-Star Game.
The Rockies’ four-time all-star third baseman — voted in as a starter for the second year in a row — will enjoy every minute of the derby. Yet, despite heading into Thursday’s action tied for the National League lead with 23 home runs, Arenado will not participate in the derby.
“I’ve been asked before, but I didn’t get asked this year,” Arenado said Thursday before the Rockies hosted Arizona at Coors Field.
