Rockies name Darryl Scott bullpen coach, part ways with Darren Holmes

The Rockies made a major staff change Friday, naming Darryl Scott as the new bullpen coach and firing Darren Holmes.

The Rockies’ bullpen struggled mightily this past season, compiling a 5.14 ERA that ranked as the sixth-highest in franchise history.

Additionally, the Rockies announced that Steve Merriman has been named as one of the franchise’s minor-league pitching coordinators, Scott’s previous position.

Scott, 51, who is well-liked and respected by many Rockies pitchers, has been with the organization since 2009, spending the last three seasons as one of the club’s pitching coordinators. He was the pitching coach for Triple-A Albuquerque from 2015-16.
