Kyle Freeland was stellar Saturday night at Dodger Stadium, but the Rockies offense couldn’t make up for his lone mistake.
Austin Barnes’ leadoff homer in the second inning was all the offense the Dodgers needed in a 1-0 win over the Rockies, who were held to two hits in the defeat as Freeland’s seven strong innings were squandered.
“We just never really got into a position to get a big hit,” Rockies acting manager Mike Redmond said. “We weren’t able to put any pressure on them. I guess every once in a while you’ve got to tip your hat, and they did a nice job pitching tonight and we weren’t able to sustain any type of rally.
