Rockies lose RHP Brooks Brown off waivers to the Dodgers

The Rockies on Wednesday lost a relief pitcher when the Los Angeles Dodgers claimed right-hander Brooks Brown off waivers.

The Dodgers announced they picked up Brown and released right-hander Jim Johnson to create roster space.

Brown battled a shoulder injury for much of this past season. He pitched 30 innings over 36 games with a 4.91 ERA. He had two stints on the disabled list and a 16-game spell at Triple-A Albuquerque.

Brown, 30, a first-round pick of the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2006, made his big-league debut last season for the Rockies on his way to an impressive 2.
