Rockies infield prospect Colton Welker, now in Double-A Hartford, continues to rake at the plate

As Colton Welker sports a .336 career average in his fourth minor league season, the prospect report on him is becoming simple.

The 21-year-old corner infielder rakes, and rakes consistently.

Welker, batting .326 with three homers in his first year with Double-A Hartford, was also an all-star in Class-A Advanced Lancaster last season. Playing behind Nolan Arenado, he went on to tear up the Cactus League (.526 with two homers and seven RBIs) in his first big-league camp.

“My goal was to go in there and act like I belonged, to carry myself like a big leaguer, and to study those guys and watch how they go about their business,” Welker said.
