Rockies get ultimate 2025 MLB Draft gift with franchise talent with deep ties to team

Coming into the draft, the best case scenario for the Colorado Rockies was if the near consensus top talent in the draft, Ethan Holliday, fell to them at fourth overall. Not only is he the player with the most upside in this draft class, but the family bloodlines with Rockies legend Matt Holliday being his dad.

Well, the top two picks were near complete surprises with underslot deals to Eli Willits and Tyler Bremner. The Mariners at #3 had their pick and went with arguably the best college arm available with LSU's Kade Anderson. That meant that Holliday was available at #4 and the Rockies didn't screw it up.
