Nolan Arenado was the main attraction, but Elias Diaz stole the show.
The Rockies’ catcher hammered a three-run, two-out, walk-off homer off Giovanny Gallegos to beat the St. Louis Cardinals 5-2 Thursday night at raucous Coors Field.
Gallegos issued back-to-back, two-out walks to Brendan Rodgers and Ryan McMahon before Diaz crushed an 0-2 hanging slider into the left-field bleachers.
The Rockies improved to 29-16 at the friendly confines in LoDo.
Arenado, the Cardinals’ star third baseman whose wish was granted in February when the Rockies traded him to St. Louis, went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in his first game at Coors Field since the trade.
