San Diego — There are no tougher players in baseball than catchers. They carry their black-and-blue bruises like badges of honor. But when it comes to concussions, catchers aren’t messing around any more.
Colorado’s Nick Hundley is thankful for that. He was on disabled list because of a concussion earlier this season and was glad he took the necessary time to get better. On Friday, backup catcher Tony Wolters was moved to the seven-day concussion disabled list after catching a foul tip to his mask Thursday night against Cincinnati.
“The more you hear about the dangers of concussions, the more honest you have to be with yourself,” Hundley said before the Rockies played San Diego here Friday night.
