PHOENIX — Monday night’s Rockies game at Chase Field belongs in a time capsule. It perfectly captured the angst of their 2019 season.
On a night when starter Chi Chi Gonzalez flirted — a little bit — with a no-hitter, and on a night when the Rockies rallied to tie the game late, they still managed to lose to the Arizona Diamondbacks. The bullpen, once again, imploded.
The final was 5-3 and former closer Wade Davis and lefty Jake McGee — both part of the Rockies’ $106 million bullpen investment prior to the 2018 season — once again failed to deliver.
