Rockies’ Brendan Rodgers, Ryan McMahon named Gold Glove finalists

Brendan Rodgers was raised as a shortstop but he’s grown into a bona fide major-league second baseman.

Confirmation came Thursday when Rodgers was named one of three finalists for a National League Gold Glove award. Rockies’ third baseman Ryan McMahon also was named a finalist for the second year in a row.

“It’s always exciting to be nominated, especially with the talent you see around the league at third base,” McMahon said. “I’m really excited that Brendan was nominated, too. He had a heck of a year.”

The other finalists at second base are the Padres’ Jake Cronenworth and the Cardinals’ Tommy Edman.
