Rockies blast five homers, German Marquez brilliant in rout of Miami

German Marquez threw a no-hitter for 4 1/3 innings, pitched six scoreless innings, struck out seven and walked only one Friday night at Coors Field.

And yet the Rockies’ ace was upstaged. Big time.

His teammates channeled the Blake Street Bombers, blasting five home runs in a 14-2 romp over Miami.

First baseman C.J. Cron, making a case that the Rockies should attempt to re-sign him at season’s end, hit two homers off Marlins right-hander Sandy Alcantara, bringing his season total to 16. His first homer led off the second inning, an impressive 412-foot “oppo” to right field.
