Rockies beat Brewers off walk-off wild pitch in 13th inning to close out the season

The final pitch of the Rockies’ lost season produced a wild, ugly, 13-inning victory and a three-game sweep over the playoff-bound Brewers. Go figure.

As Rockies manager Bud Black likes to say, “That’s baseball.” In one form or another.

The Rockies won Sunday’s game at Coors Field, 4-3, on a wild pitch by Brewers reliever Jake Faria, allowing rookie Sam Hilliard to scamper home from third with the winning run. By then, much of the crowd of 36,771 had departed, but the die-hard fans stuck around to salute the Rockies.

Colorado finished with a 71-91 record and placed fourth in the National League West, thanks to Arizona beating San Diego, 1-0.
