Rockies bats go flat in loss to Cincinnati as Colorado’s momentum takes a step back (again)

CINCINNATI — The Rockies’ 3-1 defeat to the Reds on Saturday night at Great American Ball Park didn’t wholly hinge on a mental error by Raimel Tapia, but the gaffe certainly epitomized the loss.

What offensive opportunities the Rockies did have, they squandered, up to and through Tapia’s baserunning blunder that ended Colorado’s threat in the seventh inning. It marked the club’s 11th loss in the last 15 games after two straight wins coming in.

With one out in the seventh inning and the Rockies down by two runs, Tapia managed to reach second base via a misplay by Jesse Winker on a flyball to left.
