San Diego — The Rockies’ frustration reached a fever pitch Friday night in a 4-0 loss to the Padres at Petco Park.
Star third baseman Nolan Arenado let loose a salvo of angry words in the Rockies’ dugout after the Padres took a 3-0 lead in the first inning off Matt Kemp’s 458-foot, three-run homer. Arenado shouted at a number of teammates, including catcher Nick Hundley.
The loss to the Padres was the Rockies’ 12th defeat in their last 16 games, dropping them a season-worst six games under .500 at 24-30. Adding insult to the latest loss was seeing former Rockies starter Drew Pomeranz dominate his old team.
