After an awkward swing on an inside fastball in the seventh inning of this afternoon’s contest against the Texas Rangers, Colorado Rockies’ first baseman Mark Reynolds suffered a yet unknown injury and had to be removed from the game.
Reynolds has been the only true first baseman on the Rockies roster since the team relegated Ben Paulsen to Triple-A Albuquerque. If Reynolds is going to miss some time, Paulsen may need to be recalled or the team might look to Jordan Patterson as a higher upside option. Patterson would need to be added to the 40-man roster though which introduces additional complications.
