Mariners 5, Rockies 3: Sweepless in Seattle

Colorado’s bid for a sweep of the Mariners fell short Sunday, as Seattle (6-11) salvaged the series finale 5-3. Germán Márquez (2-2) pitched seven solid innings for the Rockies, but he gave up five runs — only two of which were earned — in the losing effort, raising his ERA slightly to 2.08.

Rookie hurler dazzles (most of) Rockies lineup

Seattle’s Justus Sheffield baffled the Colorado bats for six innings of shutout ball. The Mariners left-hander entered the contest with a 9.39 ERA, but he lowered it by more than four runs to pick up the first victory of his career.
