Los Angeles Dodgers hang on to take 2 of 3 from the Colorado Rockies

Resilience has become the Rockies’ trademark this season. That’s certainly a valuable trait for a team in a pennant race, but it can’t always overcome bad pitching — especially not at Coors Field.

Such was the case Sunday afternoon when Dodgers battered starter Tyler Anderson to build an 8-2 lead and hung on for a 9-6 victory. By taking two of three games in the weekend series, Los Angeles moved to within a half-game of Colorado in the National League West.

The weirdness of the game was illustrated by what happened in the eighth inning.
