LaTroy Hawkins, who started the season as the Rockies' closer before being demoted, then injuring his arm, will start a rehab assignment Thursday, Weiss said.
Hawkins, playing in his final season at the age of 42, went on the disabled list April 22 with right biceps tendinitis. He left for Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday and will pitch for the Isotopes on Thursday. He will pitch at least one more game after that for Albuquerque.
