The evolution and maturation of Jon Gray continued Friday night in the Rockies’ 3-0 victory over Miami at Coors Field.
The right-hander pitched eight scoreless innings, allowing five hits, striking out seven, walking none and getting 13 groundball outs.
Colorado won consecutive games for the first time since July 25-26 at Washington and Cincinnati and won back-to-back games at Coors for the first time since June 28-29 vs. the Dodgers.
Gray was in and around the zone all night and was hopeful of throwing a complete game. Indeed catcher Tony Wolters lobbied hard for manager Bud Black to make that happen.
