Jon Gray is done for the year

With Nolan Arenado battling a shoulder injury, the odds of him taking over to will the Rockies to the playoffs seems unlikely, leaving room for someone else to step up. Many have pointed to the bottom part of the batting order, while others suggest it is up to the starting pitchers to return to their early season form. Unfortunately, the latter route took a hit on Wednesday as Bud Black announced that Jon Gray would likely miss the rest of the season.

Gray has been on the 10-day injured list since September 4, but the hope was that he could return for another start or two and deliver some quality innings as the Rockies attempt to climb their way out of tenth place and into the postseason.
