SAN DIEGO — Jon Gray didn’t just pitch like an ace Sunday night. He hummed like a machine.
Wearing road grays — of course — the Rockies’ prized 24-year-old right-hander steamrolled the San Diego Padres in a 10-3 victory at Petco Park. Gray struck out a career-high 12 over seven innings. He was charged with two runs on five hits and walked only one batter.
The offense also purred as the Rockies snapped a four-game losing streak and won for just the seventh time in their last 28 games at Petco. Charlie Blackmon, Nolan Arenado and Carlos Gonzalez all had big nights.
