The rain held off for Tuesday night’s series opener against the San Francisco Giants, but the Rockies’ home woes returned in an ugly way.
San Francisco plated five runs in one inning off right-hander Antonio Senzatela, the bullpen got hammered and Colorado’s offense didn’t have much beyond a few bursts of firepower in a 14-4 defeat. The embarrassing loss dropped the Rockies to 6-10 at Coors Field, tied for the fewest home wins in the National League with the lowly Miami Marlins.
Charlie Blackmon gave Colorado an early spark with his 32nd career leadoff homer, which ranks him fourth among active players in the statistic.
