It was clear, almost immediately, that Rockies starter Chi Chi Gonzalez wasn’t long for Tuesday’s game against the Giants.
Whether it was the three consecutive doubles he allowed to start the game, or the fact that the Giants tagged him for more runs (5) than Gonzalez recorded outs (4), Tuesday’s game was a disaster in the making. And it only got worse once Gonzalez was unceremoniously ousted.
The Rockies got blasted, 12-3, behind a torrent of San Francisco power and a flood of ineffective pitching. The loss, Colorado’s third in a row, dropped the Rockies to 63-76 on the season.
