With the 38th overall pick in the 2016 MLB Draft, the Colorado Rockies selected right-handed pitcher Robert Tyler out of Athens, Georgia. It was the Rockies second pick in the draft after taking right-handed pitcher Riley Pint with the fourth overall pick.

Tyler is believed to have among the top fastballs of the college pitchers available in this draft, sitting in the upper 90s and touching double-digits at times. The question at this point is whether Tyler fits into a rotation role in the future or better as a potential bullpen guy. The MLB Network crew speculated that he could excel as a Closer which could also expedite his arrival to the big leagues.
